Why this calendar?

Following on from the notes of the introduction, it would be good to clarify why this is necessary. What are the reasons for our actions and the way that we follow?

Acts 17vs11; “Now these were more noble…, who received the word with great eagerness and searched the Scriptures daily, if these words were so.”

Why be confused, you may say, between the ‘normal’ calendar used by most of the world, and the Jewish Calendar. Now even more confusing, there is yet another, the Messianic Calendar. “Is it not enough to just love God and love your neighbour as yourself?  Surely there is nothing that I can do to be saved? Is not the blood of the Lamb atonement enough? And even the only atonement? “

The answer to these questions is; yes, and by no means in contradiction to the ancient way. This calendar being introduced is by no means new, although its revelation may be new to you. This calendar is about six thousand years old, following both the solar cycle and the lunar cycle, according to which the history of Scriptural Chronology is recorded. It is in fact the introduction of the Greco-Roman, or Gregorian Calendar that has brought in the confusion about two thousand years ago. Prior to this, the believers followed the calendar as per the instructions recorded in the Sacred word of YHVH. Note that there is no suggestion that the world should turn to this calendar. The world needs to turn to Yahshuah!  Yet those who have already turned to Yahshuah should heed his words:

Matt 5vs17-19; “Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one title shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done. Whoever, then breaks one of the least of these commands, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the reign of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens.”

Can you be immersed in the ways of Babylon, in the culture, its calendar and its festivals, but in your heart follow Elohim?

Revelation 18vs4; “And I heard another voice from the heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you should share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.”

Saul (Paul) teaches us in 1 Corinth. 14vs38; “And if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.”

Eagerness to learn the truth is of the Spirit.

Stubbornness to learn is of the flesh.

Saul also writes, in 2 Timothy 2vs15; “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Yeshuah reasons with the so-called ‘learned men’ in Matt. 16vs3b;“…O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? “

Can you?

Yeshuah often spoke in parables, so that they would not understand. These notes are not really trying to convince anyone who does not believe in Yahshuah that they should follow this way. Yahshuah’s parable in Luke 16vs31; has Avraham saying;  “If they hear not Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rose from the dead.” And further from His own mouth Yeshuah speaks again of this in Yochanan 5vs46: “For if you believed Moshe, you would have believed Me, since he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how shall you believe My words? “

If someone does not believe in the Torah, the writings of Moses, it is quit likely that they do not truly believe in Yeshuah, and visa versa, for Yeshuah says so himself. But it is not for us to judge, for; “All we have gone astray; we have turned each of us to his own way; and YHVH has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

These notes are intended to merely deepen our study and to clarify what those who already believe are trying to live out by obedience. Proclaiming the Gospel of Salvation is a nobler calling, with signs and wonders following. Yet there is a purpose to this calendar. We believe by faith, that in obedience to Elohim we shall walk in His intended blessing, and better understand His master plan. There is continual reference to date and month of the year throughout the scriptures. Is this not important then? In the Gospel according to Yochannan, he makes reference to the “Appointed time” around which Yashuah is doing such and such a miracle or giving a certain teaching. There is a link here for those who are able to see it, and Yochannan is referring them to consider these things. Why would he mention it, if it were not relevant? So, if we are going to follow the Scriptural instruction on the ‘times and seasons’, why not just follow the modern Jewish calendar, does it not do just that? Well yes it does, sort of, but it also has a few errors. The major errors are; the year, the ‘Rosh Hashanah’; First Fruits-‘Biccurim’; the counting of the Omer; and Pentecost-‘Shavuot’.  Many Jews know these errors, but the tradition is too strong to change. The Jewish calendar is also often clouded in a host of extra traditional paraphernalia that clutters YHVH’s otherwise simple instructions. Ironically, much of this is actually forbidden by YHVH.  See Deut 4vs2: “Do not add to the word which I command you, and do not take away from it, so as to guard the commands of YHVH your Elohim which I am commanding you.”

These notes are written in fear and trembling for YHVH, an Almighty and jealous Sovereign.

We read again in Deut 12vs32: “All the word I am commanding you, guard to do it – do not add to it nor take away from it.”

The Messianic Scriptural Calendar is a fresh return to the simple roots of the faith, yet in a form that will allow us to relate to the Nations around us, to whom we are supposed to be a light. So it is more or less the same ancient Jewish Calendar, corrected, acknowledging Yeshuah the Messiah, scraped clean of confusion, and with reference to some important tradition that supports the word of Elohim, neither adding to, nor subtracting from it.

(Although Yeshuah is always recorded as speaking against traditions, not all traditions oppose “The Way”, for we have an example of Saul in 2 Thessaloniki 2vs15 saying: “So, then brothers, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or by our letters.”

May the Ruach Hakodesh give us discernment.

Yeshayahu prophesize in chapter 66 verses 22-23:

“For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make stand before Me,” declares YHVH, “So your seed and your name shall stand.” “.And it shall be that from New Moon to New Moon, and from Shabbath to Shabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,” declares YHVH.
